NTC Aquatics Member Achieves Olympic Trials Time Standard!

On Saturday, June 27, 2015, David Lambert placed first in the Men’s 50 meter Freestyle at the NTC/Karen Hohne Memorial Swim Meet with a time of 23.26 His first place finish not only earned him a gold medal for this meet but more importantly, qualifies Lambert to compete in the 2016 U.S.A. Olympic Swimming Trials.

This local resident and employee of the South Lake Hospital: LiveWell Fitness Center joined the NTC Aquatics team in 2015 shortly after he moved to Clermont from Winter Haven to train with Coach Don Gibb and joined the LiveWell Fitness Center staff.

A swimmer since his freshman year in high school, Lambert has competed in 70 competitions, and Saturday was the first time he achieved an Olympic Trials time standard. The U.S.A. Olympic Swimming Trials will be held Sunday, June 26, through Sunday, July 3, 2016, in Omaha, Nebraska, at the CenturyLink Center Omaha. 

Along with his Olympic Trials time standard of 23.26 in the men’s 50 meter freestyle during the June NTC Karen Hohne Invitational swim meet, some of Lambert’s other aquatics accomplishments include:

• Earning All-American status and placing second in the Florida HS State Championships his senior year of high school
• Placing first in the 50 yard Freestyle at the NAIA National Championships his Junior year at St. Andrews’ University in North Carolina

Lambert has plans to continue developing his swimming skills with the NTC Aquatics staff as he pursues his dream of competing on the Olympic level.
