Shoe Donation Drive: December 26 – January 15

Posted by Lauren Jones, December 20th, 2016

We Care of Lake County is a non-profit local organization that serves the specialty healthcare needs of uninsured adults in Lake County. The group partners with local volunteer physicians to provide specialty medical care at no cost to the patient. In addition, the We Care We Share program helps others overcome challenges, and recover and rehabilitate by sharing donated medical equipment free of charge.

The National Training Center is participating in We Care’s “We Shoes to Care” shoe drive. Gently worn shoes will be collected throughout Lake County and donated to develop and sustain micro-businesses in under-developed nations. These shoes, and their ability to be sold or re-purposed, represent a micro-enterprise opportunity for individual families and their communities. In return We Care of Lake County receives funds based on the pounds of shoes collected to continue their mission of providing medical care to those in need.
